Consultations

The William R. Maples Center for Forensic Medicine at the University of Florida’s College of Medicine offers crime scene analysts for wildlife crime investigations to federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and private organizations. The Maples Center employs entomologists, botanists, anthropologists, toxicologists, and DNA analysts specifically for casework involving wildlife crime. These services are provided to all law enforcement and wildlife agencies on a national and international basis. The William R. Maples Center for Forensic Medicine at the University of Florida’s College of Medicine offers forensic science support and training to wildlife conservation officers, government agencies, and private organizations. The Maples Center can provide crime scene support on location as well as laboratory analysis in the fields of wildlife genetics, entomology, botany, anthropology, pathology, toxicology, and species identification for cases of wildlife poaching and illegal take of wild animals.

Since 1999, The William R. Maples Center for Forensic Medicine has provided the University of Florida with programs of undergraduate and graduate education, professional training, certification, and research to aid in the application of forensic science medicine to criminal investigation and response. The Maples Center maintains diagnostic anthropology and toxicology laboratories and has a DNA section for the analysis of animal specimens.

Crime Scene Response

The Maples Center has certified forensic scientists on staff to provide onsite scene response, when desired, laboratory analysis, and subject matter expert consultation. These services are available to all national and international law enforcement agencies and wildlife organizations.
